Schnucks Markets customers and the company donated $200,000 to The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle campaign through the most recent “Round Up at the Register” fundraiser.
Schnucks customers had the option to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar, with 100 percent of donations from the 15-day campaign benefiting The Salvation Army. Customers donated $189,514, and Schnucks rounded up that amount $10,486.
“We’re honored to partner with The Salvation Army as part of our commitment to nourish people’s lives, and during the holiday season, our customers and teammates look forward to giving back to our community through the Round Up, the bell ringers and the iconic red kettles,” said Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck.
“We know the need in our communities is great, but with the support from our generous customers, who see the terrific work of The Salvation Army, those struggling can receive the help they need.”
All funds raised during Round Up at the Register stay in the community in which they were donated to support local programs and services, including helping to provide food, shelter, support for veterans, substance abuse treatment and emergency disaster services throughout the year.
“The generosity of our community and the Schnucks team is such a wonderful blessing to the Army and those we serve,” said Maj. Adam Moore, St. Louis Area commander for The Salvation Army. “We are seeing a 15-percent increase in need in our community this year – many of those have never needed our services before but have found themselves in a difficult position. The ongoing support of Schnucks and its customers will certainly help us strive to meet those increasing needs.”
The funds donated through the Round Up are in addition to those donated by Schnucks customers, who continue to give to The Salvation Army’s red kettles located at all Schnucks stores through Christmas Eve.
