The Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) elected Jake Fermanian of Super King Markets to the board of directors at its Nov. 9 meeting in San Diego, California.
Fermanian is the VP of Super King Markets, a family-owned and -operated grocery chain with eight locations in Southern California. Having grown up in the family business since 1993, he officially joined the company in 2007.
His contributions have been crucial to the company’s growth, as he has led and been actively engaged in various departments, including marketing, IT, purchasing, finance, e-commerce, supply chain, real estate and overall strategic development.
Fermanian believes that the key to Super King’s success is the active involvement of two generations of his family in the business. This multi-generational participation is seen as the company’s “secret sauce.” Super King has developed a robust infrastructure over the years, built through its people and systems, positioning it for future growth.
Fermanian graduated from Chapman University in 2007 with a degree in marketing and finance. He furthered his education by attending the USC Executive MBA program, from which he graduated in 2018. He also served on the board of directors of the California Grocers Association (CGA) from 2017-23.
