Kroger Breaks Ground On New Marketplace In Clarksville, TN

Clarksville Kroger groundbreaking

The Kroger Co. celebrated the groundbreaking of its fourth store in Clarksville, Tennessee, set to open in late 2025.

The new 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace store on Needmore Road, bringing around 150 new jobs to the area, will offer expanded amenities, including a Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese, The Little Clinic, a fuel center and a broad selection of grocery and household items, such as clothing, appliances and home goods.

The event was attended by special guests and community leaders who joined Kroger representatives to kick off construction with a ceremonial “dirt-turning,” donning hard hats and holding shovels. The groundbreaking marked a milestone in Kroger’s commitment to the Clarksville/Montgomery County community, where it has been serving residents since 1988 with three other locations on Madison Street, Dover Crossing and Lowe’s Drive.

“We’re honored to deepen our commitment to this community by opening a fourth store here,” said Sonya Hostetler, division president. “Today’s groundbreaking reflects a $41 million investment in Clarksville and Montgomery County, which we are proud to make. We’re grateful to this community, and we’re excited to grow alongside you.”

The new Kroger Marketplace is expected to strengthen Clarksville’s economy, providing increased access to quality goods and health services while supporting local job creation.

Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Kroger Nashville is a division of The Kroger Co., one of the nation’s largest retail grocery chains, and operates 91 stores in Middle and East Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and North Alabama.
