Brookshire Grocery Co. has announced plans to acquire the Shoppin’ Baskit locations in Ranger, Coleman, Ballinger and De Leon, Texas.
The locations will become Spring Market stores following a short closure for conversion in December. The expansion includes a partnership with Brookshire Grocery Co. and ACE Hardware to continue offering ACE products in the Ballinger location.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to extend our service to our neighbors in West Texas and proud to partner with ACE Hardware. With an expanded team, we look forward to a bright future ahead,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO for Brookshire Grocery Co.
“Many familiar faces will be joining us, ready to deliver quality products at competitive prices and exceptional customer service. For more than 96 years, BGC has remained committed to providing the very best service, and we’re excited to continue that tradition in these new communities.”

Starting the week of Dec. 1, each location will close for a short time, with the goal of reopening a few days later as a Spring Market. The stores will then be remodeled to bring new features and expanded offerings.
The Food Partners served as strategic and financial advisor to BGC in the transaction. McKelvey Consulting assisted Shoppin’ Baskit.
A family-owned and led company, BGC has strived to remain true to the values of its founder, such as exceptional customer service, clean stores, fresh products and strong community support. Through the years, it has grown into a regional grocery retailer with more than 17,000 employees and 210 stores that operate in four states under the banners of Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, FRESH by Brookshire’s and Reasor’s.
