Whole Foods Market opened its first smaller format store, Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, on Sept. 18 in New York City’s Lenox Hill neighborhood in the Upper East Side. Located at 1175 Third Ave., the 9,101-square-foot store is designed to bring fresh, quality ingredients to urban customers.
“Opening this first Whole Foods Market Daily Shop location – which was specially tailored for the needs of an urban market like New York City – marks a special milestone for our company,” said Christina Minardi, EVP of growth and development, Whole Foods Market and Amazon. “Whole Foods Market has been in New York City for more than 20 years now, and it’s one of the reasons I’m personally excited to be here today not only growing our footprint in this community but providing an entirely new shopping format to better serve New Yorkers.”
Features and product assortment of the Lenox Hill location include:
- More than 400 local products, from 100-plus Northeast-based suppliers, including New York-based favorites Family Farmstead Dairy, The White Moustache, Annie’s Ginger Elixir, Dam Good English Muffinsand Mill Hollow Maple Syrup;
- New local brands launching at the Lenox Hill location include Jack & Friends, P-Nuff Crunchand Mimi Cheng’s.Additionally, TALEA Beer Co. is introducing its Lenox Hill Pilsner, which will only be available at the Lenox Hill location;
- First Juice & Java venue in New York City, offering coffee, tea, juices, smoothies, sandwiches, soups and various desserts;
- Launch of new ready-to-heat sous vide entrees and sides from the Whole Foods Market Kitchens brand;
- Single-serve hot bowls and meals including health-forward Teriyaki salmon, falafel tahini and chipotle chicken grain and protein bowls; and
- Whole Foods Market favorites, including an ample selection of fresh, seasonal produce, meat and seafood, prepared foods like sandwiches and pre-packed meals, breads, alcohol, and supplements, as well as a handpicked range of local specialties and our own 365 by Whole Foods Market brand.

All food at Whole Foods Market must meet the company’s rigorous quality standards, which prohibit hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup and more than 300 flavors, colors, sweeteners and other ingredients commonly found in food. In addition, all beauty and body care products must meet the company’s body care standards, which ban more than 240 commonly used ingredients, including phthalates, parabens and microbeads.
Additional Whole Foods Market Daily Shop locations will follow at 409 E 14th St., in the East Village’s StuyTown development, and in Hell’s Kitchen at 301 West 50th St.
