Publix appears on the 2024 Best Workplaces in Retail list by Fortune, ranking fifth in the 20 best large retail workplaces.
Employees cite Publix’s support of its workers, dedication to service, welcoming culture and community outreach as some of the reasons they enjoy working for the company.
“Being named one of the best workplaces in the retail industry for the 11th year in a row is an honor,” said Maria Brous, Publix’s director of communications. “At Publix, we make an effort to stay true to the philosophies our company was founded on 94 years ago — taking care of our associates and communities.”
Care for Publix employees
Publix continues to invest in its employees’ financial, physical, mental and emotional health, as well as their social connectedness and career engagement. Care for communities and the environment
Twice a year, the company partners with its customers and employees during its “Good Together” hunger register campaign to give fresh produce and nonperishable food items to Feeding America partner food banks and other food bank organizations.
Publix also donates food from its stores that is no longer salable but still safe for consumption. The company encourages its employees to serve their local communities during its two annual Publix Serves Weeks, when associates volunteer across the company’s operating area.
In addition, Publix believes in making responsible choices when it comes to minimizing its impact on the environment. Sustainability is ingrained in the company’s culture through its mission to be involved as responsible citizens in the communities it serves.
Publix supports conservation efforts by funding initiatives, such as restoring land and water in the Florida Everglades, coral reef restoration, marine debris removal and planting trees in degraded watersheds and forests of greatest need using a portion of the proceeds from reusable bag sales.
This year, Publix also launched the “Good Together” environmental register campaign giving customers and employees the opportunity to donate to efforts that protect, conserve and restore natural resources within their communities.
