Hendersonville, Tennessee-based Alliance Retail Group (ARG) has appointed Courtney Brown and Jenn Weisgram to its board of directors, effective immediately, replacing Ward Ragland and Joey Hays, founding members who are retiring after more than 20 years of service.

“The Alliance Companies thank Ward and Joey for their invaluable knowledge and guidance over the years,” the company shared in a statement. “Our independent retailers have benefited greatly from our original retailers coming together to build the company.”

A third-generation grocer, Courtney Brown is president and CEO of Doc’s Food Stores, an 11-store independent grocery chain in Oklahoma. He also serves on boards for the Oklahoma Grocers Association and his alma mater, Southwestern College.

Doc’s Food Stores, established by Brown’s grandfather in 1946, is comprised of two companies and employs 470 people throughout Oklahoma. His expertise in retail management and strategic development will aid ARG as it continues to evolve in the rapidly changing retail landscape.

“I am honored to join the board of directors at Alliance Retail Group,” Brown said. “The company has a strong reputation for innovation and customer focus, and I look forward to contributing to its continued success.”

She has held a variety of roles at the company, including senior director of center store merchandising, senior director of fresh merchandising, director of operations and human resources management. She also serves on the boards for the Great Plains Food Bank and the North Dakota Grocer’s Association.

“Alliance Retail Group’s commitment to excellence and its forward-thinking approach are truly inspiring,” Weisgram said. “I am excited to work with the board and management team to help shape the future of the company and support its growth ambitions.”

CEO Jena Sowers welcomed both Brown and Weisgram to the ARG board.

“Their combined expertise and visionary leadership will be instrumental in driving our strategic initiatives and achieving our long-term goals,” she said. “Both Courtney and Jenn bring unique insights that will help us navigate the complexities of the retail industry and deliver exceptional value to our customers and stakeholders.”
