Weis Markets, an independent grocer based in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, has completed the remodel of its store in Thurmont, Maryland.

In celebration of the grand reopening, Weis Markets presented $500 donations to Catoctin High School, The Guardian Hose Company and Thurmont Police Department.

This concludes the second phase of the Thurmont store’s upgrade, as the store had previously completed work on a Weis N’ Go Fuel Center in 2023. Customers can now redeem their Weis Rewards points for gas discounts at the store.

As a result of the second phase of the project, the upgrades to the Weis Markets’ Thurmont store include:

  • A new front façade;
  • New interior décor;
  • An upgraded deli section with an increased variety of prepared meals to go;
  • A redesigned produce department offering added convenience and expanded variety; and
  • Expanded natural and organic variety throughout the store.

“We are very pleased to complete the two-year remodel of our Thurmont location, which now includes a fuel center, an upgraded produce and deli departments and a fresh new look,” said Bob Gleeson, SVP of merchandising and marketing. “We’re grateful to our associates and contractors who helped us complete our project and are ready to celebrate with our customers.”

This is the second recently completed project in the region. In June, the company completed the remodel of its store on Shank Farm Way in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets Inc. is a Mid Atlantic food retailer operating 197 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
