Save A Lot has shared that retail veteran Khalid Ajmal and his son, Affan, are the new owners of the store at 346 Sheridan St. in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
“Affan and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide well-stocked stores filled with fresh produce and meat cut daily in stores to our Johnstown customers,” Ajmal said.
“My team and I are passionate about bringing great quality and value to our customers and hope to reach even more families locally as we’ve completely renovated and welcome shoppers back to the store.”
On July 17, the first 100 customers will receive a reusable bag filled with grocery items. At noon, the new owners will join the Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting, followed by a community cookout with a DJ.

“Khalid, Affan and their team are first-rate operators and we’re excited to see them open this store in Johnstown,” said Bill Mayo, Save A Lot’s chief development officer. “I know their commitment to serve customers with quality products and top-notch service will benefit the Johnstown community for many years to come.”
Save A Lot offers low prices on high quality private label brands as well as on national brand products, USDA-inspected meat, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables and other non-food items.
Founded in 1977, St. Louis-based Save A Lot is the largest independently-owned and operated discount grocery store chain in the U.S., with about 800 stores in 32 states.
