Giant Eagle customers who shop online through Instacart are able to utilize Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as a method of payment on eligible products.

Giant Eagle and Market District customers in Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia can shop online for same-day delivery from more than 200 Giant Eagle and Market District stores with their SNAP benefits.

“We are committed to creating meaningful value and a convenient shopping experience for every Giant Eagle customer. Since the start of our partnership last September, Instacart has supported that commitment by making same-day delivery in as fast as an hour available to our customers,” said Justin Weinstein, EVP and chief strategy and marketing officer at Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle.

“Not only is Instacart now able to accept EBT payment through their app, but they have also integrated our myPerks loyalty program enabling customers to earn perks and unlock savings on the products they love, whether they choose to shop in our stores, at GiantEagle.com or via Instacart.”

To utilize EBT as payment through any Giant Eagle or Market District delivery option through Instacart, customers can add their EBT card information as a form of payment in their profile. At checkout, customers can select how much of their SNAP benefits they would like to allocate to their order. Giant Eagle customers can also add their myPerks loyalty card to their Instacart profile to unlock discounted pricing and earn perks on every qualifying purchase.

“Through Instacart, we want to offer every family an affordable and accessible online shopping experience. A core piece of that experience is helping families shop online with any benefits they have, allowing them to extend their food budgets, maximize time savings and reduce stress,” said Sarah Mastrorocco, VP and general manager of Instacart Health.

“Through our partnership with Giant Eagle, we’re now offering both loyalty savings and online SNAP acceptance at customers’ fingertips, giving more people the choice to shop online from the local grocer they know, love and trust, with the convenience of same-day delivery.”

Understanding that customers may need a quick delivery outside of their core grocery shopping, Giant Eagle has launched an additional shopping option in partnership with Instacart – Giant Eagle Fast Delivery.

When customers access the Instacart app or website, they can now select between Giant Eagle, Market District or Giant Eagle Fast Delivery. Placing an order through Giant Eagle Fast Delivery provides even faster delivery options from a nearby Giant Eagle or Market District location.
