Geissler’s Supermarket is acquiring the substantial majority of assets of Lussier Ventures Inc., d.b.a Fitzgerald’s Foods in Simsbury, Connecticut, pending final licensing and approvals.
“We are excited to welcome [owners] Bryan and Sandy DeVoe to the Geissler’s family. Fitzgerald’s Foods has a long history in Simsbury of providing fresh foods, friendly service and serving the entire community,” said Bob Rybick, president and CEO of Geissler’s.
“It was clear early on that we share the same commitment to fresh quality foods and locally produced products as the DeVoes. We plan to continue those great traditions, and learn from their expertise in fresh to enhance both Fitzgerald’s and all the Geissler’s stores in the future.”
On May 4, Geissler’s Supermarkets celebrated the grand reopening of its remodeled location in Granby, Connecticut. Enhancements included expanded produce, bakery and deli departments and a new kitchen that offers an array of meals, pizzas, side dishes, lunch options and take-home meals.
In addition to the DeVoes, Geissler’s plans to retain the entire staff. Geissler’s acquisition of Fitzgerald’s is expected to close in mid June.
About Geissler’s Supermarkets
Geissler’s began in 1923 when A.F. Geissler delivered groceries to the small village of Broad Brook in East Windsor, Connecticut. It reached a milestone in 2023 as it celebrated its 100th anniversary as a family-owned and -operated company.
Today, there are seven locations in the New England area that are owned and operated by the fourth generation – A.F.’s great-grandsons Bob Rybick, Ryan Nilsson, Eric Nilsson and Andrew Rybick.
