For its digital app experience, the Albertsons Companies has been nominated in the Best Apps & Software – Shopping & Retail category of the 28th Annual Webby Awards.

The awards program, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, honors excellence on the Internet. Winners will be announced April 23 during a show at Cipriani Wall Street and will have the opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards’ 5-Word Speeches.

“Nominees like Albertsons Cos. set the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Nick Borenstein, general manager of the awards program.

“It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 13,000 entries we received this year.”

Dedicated to integrating digital and physical channels, Albertsons has created a set of tools within its mobile app that bridge the gap between in-store and online shopping.

By embracing the concept of a “versatile shopping experience,” Albertsons Cos. has created a personalized experience for shopping, inspiration, meal planning and health and pharmacy.

As a nominee, Albertsons Cos. also is eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which is voted online by fans across the globe. Through April 18, fans of the grocer’s app can share their appreciation and vote at vote.webbyawards.com.

“To be nominated in the Webby Awards is an incredible recognition of the outstanding and innovative work of our digital team,” said Jill Pavlovich, SVP of digital shopping experience at Albertsons Cos.

“We are committed to creating the best customer experience possible. Thanks to our team’s efforts, our mobile app takes the chore out of grocery shopping, planning and cooking,  reinvigorating the joy and magic of food.

“We are honored to be considered for this award which is a testament to our team’s commitment to transforming Albertsons Cos. from a traditional grocery retailer into a best-in-class omnichannel experience.”
