Continuing its expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, H-E-B has broken ground on its first Joe V’s Smart Shop outside the Houston area. Located at 4101 W. Wheatland Road, the 55,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late summer.
“We are committed to providing the best shopping experience with an emphasis on offering the freshest products delivered daily at the lowest prices in the marketplace,” said Roxanne Orsak, chief operating officer for the San Antonio-based multi-format retailer.
“We’re thrilled to introduce Joe V’s Smart Shop to more Texans and excited that this proud H-E-B brand will soon serve customers in Dallas with top-quality service and selection.”
Plans to build the Joe V’s Smart Shop, which will employ more than 200 people, were announced last summer, as was construction of a second store, which is expected to open in spring 2025 at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd.
To mark the Wheatland ground breaking, Joe V’s Smart Shop announced donations to area schools and nonprofits, with $10,000 each going to support Crossroads Community Services (Dallas), Ronald McNair Elementary (Dallas), Reed Middle School (Duncanville) and Smith Elementary (Duncanville).
As part of its family of brands, H-E-B operates Central Market stores across Texas, as well as Joe V’s Smart Shop and Mi Tienda stores in the Houston area. Launched in 2010, Joe V’s has some 2,000 employees across 10 stores.
H-E-B also operates Favor Delivery, an on-demand delivery service that serves hundreds of communities throughout the state.
