Mike Reed has been promoted to SVP and CFO of San Bernardino, California-based Stater Bros. Markets.

This move is due to the recent retirement of Dave Harris, former EVP of finance, CFO and principal accounting officer. The promotion is effective immediately.

Reed will report to Stater Bros. Markets’ CEO and Chairman Pete Van Helden and be responsible for the financial accountability of the company. Additionally, he will continue overseeing the company’s real estate development and serving on the executive leadership team.

“It has been a pleasure working with Mike over the last several years as he has overseen the opening of several new stores and the remodeling of numerous existing locations,” Van Helden said. “With Mike overseeing the company’s finances, Stater Bros. will be well-positioned for success well into the future.”

Reed has more than 23 years of retail real estate development experience. He has been a member of the Stater Bros. Markets team for about 10 years, joining the company in 2014 as a senior director in the real estate and property management department.

In 2016, he was promoted to VP of real estate, and in 2018, was elevated to SVP of real estate and development, assuming responsibilities of construction, store design, equipment purchasing and facilities maintenance, which includes the areas of refrigeration, energy management, general maintenance and special maintenance projects.

In 2021, Reed took on his most recent role of SVP of property development and finance, where he continued to oversee real estate development and assumed the additional responsibility of corporate finance and accounting operations. During that time, he was also tasked with integrating the company’s real estate and finance functions to help the company achieve greater operational efficiency.

Reed sits on the board of directors of the Air Conditioning Contractors Association and serves as its treasurer. In addition, he is a trustee and current chairman of the Inland Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trust Fund. Reed is also a member and past state retail chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
