Chedraui USA, the fourth largest grocery retailer in California and parent company of El Super, Smart & Final and Fiesta Mart stores, has announced that Smart & Final President Scott Drew will retire, effective Sept. 29.
Drew began his career in the industry more than four decades ago as a grocery clerk. He joined Smart & Final in 2010 after serving as VP of store operations for Kroger from 2005-09
With Smart & Final, he served in various roles in addition to president, including EVP of administration, EVP of operations, chief operating officer, SVP of store operations and as chairman of the board.
Drew has also previously served as the president of the Food Industry Circle for City of Hope and as an officer on the WAFC’s board of directors.
“I am grateful for Scott’s tireless service to Smart & Final for more than a decade,” said Carlos Smith, CEO of Chedraui USA. “I wish him and his wife, Kelly, the very best as they embark on this next chapter of their lives.”
Smith will continue to serve as CEO of Chedraui USA with Sean Mahony, SVP of store operations; Matt Reeve, SVP of sales and merchandising; and Dan Matarelli, group VP of Chedraui USA marketing, now reporting to him.
