FreshTake, a new grocery store concept that blends convenience, dining and recreation, is set to open next summer in the former 42,000-square-foot Whole Foods location at Interstate 20 and Washington Road in Augusta, Georgia.

Spearheaded by the owner Jackson Mitchell, CEO of Jackson Mitchell Holdings, which operates five Little Giant Farmers Market sites in the Atlanta area, FreshTake aims to “elevate the way you shop and dine.”

“This store represents the culmination of my career and a deep love for the grocery business,” Mitchell said. “Our goal is to create a space that not only offers top-quality groceries but also becomes a hub for the community, where people can come together to enjoy great food, entertainment and convenience.”

FreshTake will feature seating for 130, two outdoor balconies, a mezzanine seating area above the in-store cafe with complimentary Wifi and an outdoor patio seating area.

In addition to being a regular grocery store, FreshTake will include:

  • an outside fire pit;
  • a five-hole putting green;
  • Jackson’s, a beer and wine bar;
  • in-store sushi;
  • a pizza and pasta station;
  • sandwich area;
  • juice and smoothie bar;
  • hot food area and bakery; and
  • a beer cave named the “Ice Box.”

The store also will feature in-store butchers and a section for meat, categorized into prime, fresh, frozen and packaged selections. Customers can select fresh meat and have it prepared by in-store chefs with the “grill while you shop” option. The fresh seafood department will also provide free steaming services.

FreshTake will also offer Instacart pickup and delivery services, as well as prepared foods delivery. For special occasions and gatherings, the store will offer catering services for larger events.

“We are proud to continue our family’s tradition of delivering the best quality meats to our customers,” Mitchell said.

“With FreshTake, we aim to raise the bar even higher and provide an unparalleled grocery shopping experience for the Augusta community.”

In addition to groceries, the store will feature a range of products, including health and beauty items and general merchandise, as well as a full-service pharmacy including vaccinations.
