H-E-B has begun construction on a new 127,000-square-foot store in Pflugerville, Texas, that is expected to open in fall 2024.

The new H-E-B store will be located at Pflugerville Parkway and State Highway 130. Upon completion, it will become the third H-E-B store in Pflugerville, a community north of Austin.

In October 1987, the company opened its first Pflugerville H-E-B store at 1434 Wells Branch Pkwy. In June 2000, a second location opened in the community at 201 N FM 685.

“We are thrilled to start construction of our third store in Pflugerville, a growing community we’ve proudly been a part of for 35 years,” Cathy Harm, SVP of Central Texas, said in a statement.

“We look forward to serving our dedicated customers in this part of Travis County with a new store that offers a wide assortment of quality products, innovative services and the best of what H-E-B has to offer.”

Details about the project were shared during a groundbreaking ceremony on July 12. The store’s exterior will feature a modern and distinctive design, featuring neutral tones and various materials.

Among the store’s highlights are a True Texas Barbecue restaurant, full-service pharmacy with two-lane drive-through, curbside and home delivery services with parking for curbside customers, as well as a new fuel station and car wash.

The retailer will also have a full-service bakery and Tortilleria with artisan breads and fresh tortillas, a wide selection of organic foods and an expanded Healthy Living department. It will also feature a Meal Simple area with chef-inspired options, sushiya featuring handmade sushi selections made in-store daily and an Asian grill with rice bowls and teriyaki.

In celebration of the groundbreaking, the Pflugerville H-E-B donated a total of $25,000, with gifts of $5,000 each to American Legion Kerlin-Lyerly Post 154, Circle of Hope Community Center, For the Children Inc., Horse Empowered Learning Programs and Pflugerville Education Foundation.

The Shelby Report of the Southwest’s 2023 Innovator of the Year has recently opened a new site in Austin, Texas, as well as a new e-commerce fulfillment center in Plano and stores in Lake Austin, Plano, Houston and Frisco. In addition to this groundbreaking, H-E-B has also begun construction in Mansfield, Fort Worth and Allen.
