Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Albertsons Market and Santa Fe, New Mexico-based Market Street joined The Food Depot and Roadrunner Food Bank for two check presentation ceremonies following a 12-day statewide donate-at-the-register fundraising campaign.

Guests and team members combined to raise more than $42,500 to help these organizations fight food insecurity across New Mexico.

The fundraiser ran in all Albertsons Markets and Market Street locations in the state. The proceeds will support the missions of The Food Depot and Roadrunner Food Bank. The two nonprofits serve tens of thousands of people experiencing food insecurity every week.

Combined, these funds will provide more than 200,000 meals to New Mexicans in need.

“What a joy to celebrate such a successful 2023 donate-at-the-register campaign,” said Sherry Hooper,  executive director for The Food Depot

“The money raised will provide over 38,000 healthy meals for New Mexicans in Santa Fe and surrounding counties. Everyone at The United Family continues to demonstrate their enthusiasm and dedication to ending hunger in our state, and The Food Depot is thankful for such an impactful partnership.”

Will Tapia, corporate engagement officer of Roadrunner Food Bank, said, “We are incredibly grateful to Albertsons Market and The United Family for their exceptional support through the donate-at-the-register campaign.

“Thanks to their generosity and the kindness of their customers, Roadrunner Food Bank can provide over 164,000 meals to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across New Mexico. This campaign comes at a critical time, as summer poses increased challenges for hunger, particularly among New Mexico children.
