The 135,000-square-foot reimagined grocery store Hy-Vee Inc. has opened in Gretna, Nebraska, is the company’s largest location to date and is accompanied by a 6,300-square-foot Aisles Online grocery delivery and pickup service and an adjacent 4,250-square-foot Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh convenience store.
“We are excited to announce the opening of our newest state-of-the-art flagship store in Gretna, Nebraska,” the company shared in a statement on LinkedIn.
“The reimagined store features fast-casual dining, a full-service meat and specialty cheese charcuterie department, an expanded HealthMarket department, an in-store pharmacy, an expansive Candy Shoppe and much more! We can’t wait for you to visit our newest store!”
The location offers a new dining experience for customers with a large food hall dining area for fast-casual dining. It features the grocer’s expanded breakfast menu; a pub with full sit-down bar, 32 taps and outdoor patio; mealtime offerings; Mia Italian; HyChi and Hibachi; Nori Sushi; Market Grille Express; Long Island Deli; and a Wahlburgers at Hy-Vee.
The store also offers amenities such as a cake decorator station, delicatessen offering shaved meats and cheeses, meat counter with chef’s station, seafood counter with sustainable seafood options, expanded HealthMarket department, an in-store Starbucks and pharmacy with a drive-up window.
Additional offerings shared in a statement include a Pair Eyewear kiosk, beauty department and expanded Candy Shoppe department. It also has a large Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits department featuring a walk-in beer cooler, humidor and wine room.
The Gretna location includes all-digital shelf labels that display product information and pricing, as well as more than 100 TVs that feature Hy-Vee products, promotions and services. Digital kiosks are also available for customers to order custom cakes and fresh prepared foods and access offerings through Hy-Vee Financial Services.
Other amenities include a mother’s room, dry cleaning and postal services. Additional grocery services such Hy-Vee Aisles Online grocery delivery and pickup service will be available.
The store will carry about 120,000 items, including more than 6,300 specialty items, more than 8,000 HealthMarket items and 3,500 fresh produce items, including 120 organic items.
The retailer has invested more than $37 million in the community to build, furnish and stock the grocery store. The new Gretna Hy-Vee creates more than 628 local jobs, including 128 full-time positions.
Hy-Vee was named The Shelby Report of the Midwest’s 2022 Retailer of the Year and was named by Forbes as a Best-in-State Employer in Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota and Missouri. In addition, the grocer received recognition from Forbes‘ as a “Best Employer For Veterans.”
