Williamsville, New York-based Tops donated more than 2.5 million meals through annual campaigns such as the Check Out Hunger and Food 2 Families.
These campaigns help the community support food banks in its communities, including FeedMore WNY, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania, Foodlink, Food Bank of Central New York, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Food Bank of Northeastern New York, Vermont Food Bank and Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.
This contribution impacts families across Tops’ three-state footprint but it reminds the community that even though these campaigns may have concluded, the need is still ongoing.
“As FeedMore WNY continues to alleviate food insecurity throughout Western New York, we are deeply grateful to have Tops Friendly Markets as steadfast partners of our mission,” said Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO.
“For more than 30 years, Tops Friendly Markets have supported FeedMore WNY’s hunger-relief programs with donations of food, funds and volunteerism. Their recent Food 2 Families and Check Out Hunger campaigns have provided more than $239,400 and 50,500 pounds of food to help feed community members in need – with truckloads of more food donations still on the way. We thank the entire team at Tops as well as their generous customers for helping FeedMore WNY provide dignity, hope and a brighter future to our neighbors in need.”
