Georgia-based Savannah Bee Co. has announced its partnership with whiskey producer Angel’s Envy. The collaboration marks the launch of a new honey varietal: Port Bourbon Barrel Aged Orange Blossom Honey.
The honey is aged in the same port wine barrels that once aged Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The two brands have created a vanilla-infused honey with a touch of Madeira.
The Port Bourbon Barrel Aged Orange Blossom Honey is available for nationwide shipping in 3-ounce ($12) and 12-ounce ($27).
Established in 2002, Savannah Bee Co. was founded by Ted Dennard, who learned about beekeeping growing up in coastal Georgia. He started by selling his Tupelo Honey from his own hive. Savannah Bee Co. has a large product line that includes specialty honeys and honeycomb, body care and beauty items, home goods, retail locations across the U.S.
Through its nonprofit, The Bee Cause Project, Savannah Bee Co. has provided hives for 445 schools in 50 states and four countries around the world with the goal of saving the bees.
Angel’s Envy is a Louisville, Kentucky-based distiller that produces finished whiskeys. Founded in 2010, each of its whiskeys are finished in hand-selected barrels. The company continues to produce several core offerings – a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels and a Rye Whiskey Finished in Caribbean Rum Casks – as well as a variety of special releases.
