In recognition of Giving Tuesday, Bessemer, Alabama-based Milo’s Tea Co. will donate more than 5,000 gallons of tea and lemonade and $40,000 to nonprofits. GivingTuesday is a global movement to inspire people to make a difference through generosity.
The $40,000 donation will be distributed among five organizations: The Literacy Council of Central Alabama, Tulsa Community College Foundation, University of Alabama’s Business School, Cahaba River Society and The Conservation Fund. These monetary donations are in addition to the contributions that Milo’s has already made this year through its profit pledge.
“At Milo’s, we believe that it is our responsibility to ensure the prosperity of people and to protect our planet now. As a multi-generational family business, we are making decisions within our operations that serve the future,” said Tricia Wallwork, CEO, chair and co-owner of Milo’s Tea Company.
“Our 1% Profit Pledge demonstrates that commitment, supporting education, families, and working parents, as well as organizations that work to leave our planet in a better place for future generations. Our company provides pathways for our associates to make a difference through more than money. We all have something to give, whether that means time and energy through volunteerism or taking advantage of any of the other giving programs we offer.”
Milo’s gives back to its local communities through its “Milo’s Makes a Difference” Profit Pledge. The business donates 1 percent of profits to organizations that empower people and protect the planet, provides paid time off in exchange for volunteer hours, puts $100 per year in the hands of each employee to donate to the nonprofit of their choosing, encourages employees to help each other through an Employee Assistance Program and donates millions of servings of all natural Milo’s beverages each year.
Milo’s further demonstrates its commitment to environmental initiatives through maintaining T.R.U.E. Platinum Zero Waste Certification at each of its tea manufacturing facilities.
“GivingTuesday is a perfect time to underscore our commitment to making a difference through these acts of generosity,” said Taylor Clark, director of corporate responsibility.
“We’re proud to support this global movement, especially since it aligns so closely with what we’re already doing at Milo’s. These five organizations were selected because they deliver against our corporate responsibility mission of elevating our ecosystem and leading the nation as a corporate steward, leveraging our profits to purposefully spark change and sustain impactful projects across America.”
