Schriever, Louisiana-based Rouses Markets has teamed up with Kellogg’s Co. to give kids access to sporting activities.
On Oct. 21, representatives from both companies – as well as Tony the Tiger! – presented a donation of $11,000 via education nonprofit DonorsChoose to help fund middle school sports in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi through Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Mission Tiger.
The donation is helping fund the purchase of new sports equipment and upgrade facilities. Janie Voisin, a physical education teacher at Grand Cailou Middle School, one of the recipients, was on hand for a company breakfast and check presentation at Rouses Markets’ headquarters.
In addition, a book donation was made to Grand Cailou Middle School in Houma, Louisiana, through Kellogg’s partnership with Penguin Random House.
The donations are part of Rouses Markets’ shared commitment with Kellogg’s to strengthen communities where it does business.
Rouses Markets is ranked one of the largest employers on the Gulf Coast. From one store in Houma, Louisiana, the grocer has grown to 64 locations with 7,000 employees serving customers across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Donny Rouse is the third generation to run the business started by his grandfather, Anthony J. Rouse, Sr., in 1960. The company has been honored for its leadership in making the communities it serves better places to live and work.
