Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based Weis Markets has announced its Weis 4 School program has generated $500,000 in donations for schools in its seven-state market area.
Participating Weis customers who connected their Preferred Shoppers Club cards to the Pre-K through eighth grade school of their choice earned points on their purchases during the 2021-22 school year. These points resulted in donations to their schools of choice.
Donations were made possible by a company donation and customer contributions at self-checkout in July.
“We are so pleased to announce that our Weis 4 School program has generated donations for schools in our seven-state market area,” said Ron Bonacci, VP of advertising and marketing, Weis Markets.
“Our company and associates are committed to the communities we serve. Over the past two years, we’ve generated $1 million for local schools. We are also grateful to our customers for their continued support.”
Shiloh Middle School in Hampstead, Maryland, generated the top donation at $10,892, followed by Thurmont Elementary School at $8,338 and Hampstead Elementary School at $6,364.
