“Roger is one of the foremost experts in the grocery industry,” Rice said. “This new position further solidifies his critical role in leading and directing the operations side of our business. Our member retailers trust him, our team trusts him and I trust him to drive our business forward in remarkable ways.”
White brings experience to the position, having worked for Associated Food Stores for nearly 30 years. Previously, White served as EVP of sales and wholesale operations.
As part of his responsibilities, White oversees some of the company’s initiatives including warehouse modernization, product and supply-chain efficiencies, data utilization, promotional planning, vendor and industry relations, as well as merchandising.
“I am very excited about this new assignment. The momentum we have, combined with the tremendous potential for growth, opens doors for our independent grocers and our wholesale team to be even more successful,” White said. “I have never felt as much enthusiasm, energy and optimism as I feel right now. We have many obstacles, but we also have incredible people dedicated to solutions.”
Associated Food Stores is an independent retailer-owned warehouse, providing warehouse facilities and retail services to nearly 500 grocers throughout the Intermountain West. Started in 1940, when 34 retailers joined to battle high supplier costs and chain competition, members of Associated Food Stores continue fulfilling the mission of the original member owners more than 80 years later.
