Tops Friendly Markets is celebrating 25 years Oct. 11 at its 285 Upper Falls Blvd. location in the Rochester, New York, with a store reopening.
This store, located in the heart of the city near The University of Rochester Department of Biomedical Engineering, Rochester Educational Opportunity Center, The Eastman School of Music and the George Eastman House, serves a cross population of the community.
Tops Markets’ renovation marks the 26th location recently updated with a new look and a renewed focus. It will offer enhanced services, an expanded assortment of products and a fresh perimeter with updated décor.
This store has also been refreshed with a repaved parking lot, renovated lobby and restrooms, LED lighting inside and out, solar powered efficiencies, an M&T Bank for convenience, self-check outs and updated interior décor.
Steve Geer, store manager, said he and his team are working hard to focus on affordable, easy-to-prepare meal options, as well as providing some new additions. “When it comes to freshness, convenience and variety, you’ll find everything here at your newly remodeled Rochester store. Among the changes we’re proudest of our new bakery that offers specialty cakes and freshly baked breads. We’re also offering customers a wider selection of domestic and imported cheeses, fresh, custom cut meats by real butchers and a focus on fresh,” Geer said.
Customers who attend the reopening celebration on Oct. 11 will have the chance to win prizes like $1,000 in Tops gift cards for food and fuel, free meat for a year and a $250 shopping spree.
Through the store, people will notice an expansion of areas including specialty cheeses, soups and pastas. Tops’ bakery department offers an assortment of freshly baked breads, pastries, specialty cakes, frozen cake varieties, sweets and breakfast items like danishes, bagels and muffins.
Customers can also shop in an expanded produce area from more than 500 local produce and dairy farmers. The grocer is also a supporter of products grown by New York State farmers who adhere to the New York State Grown and Certified program’s requirements, which includes verification of safe food handling practices and participation in environmental sustainability programs.
The Upper Falls Tops store will be making $1,000 donations to each of the following groups as a thank you for their support: Baden Street Settlement, House of Mercy, Ibero Early Childhood Services, Rochester Fire Department N. Clinton Ave. Firehouse, Rochester Police Department: Do the Right Thing Program and the YWCA.
