Pleasant Hill, Iowa-based Fareway and Brandy Gosselin, bakery manager, are celebrating her win of recent state and international honors.
Gosselin recently attended the 2022 International Dairy, Deli, and Bakery Association’s event in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was awarded 2022 Cake Artist of the Year. She was selected for the honor from cake decorators across the U.S. During the tradeshow in Atlanta, Gosselin decorated a wedding cake dessert table and a fall tablescape in front of fellow attendees.
Gosselin won another title at the Iowa State Fair, winning first place in wedding cakes. She has been a top competitor at the Iowa State Fair for more than five years.
She holds more than 10 titles, having placed in the sculpted cakes; single tiered cakes; cookies, cupcakes, petit fours and cake balls categories; and has taken first place overall. Her winning creation, the Lambeth Wedding Cake, will be on display in the Elwell Family Food Center throughout the duration of the fair.
“Brandy is one of the most talented and creative cake decorators, and is a valued part of the Fareway family,” said Amanda Munson, bakery sales specialist. “Her hard work and commitment to continuous improvement have earned her these top honors in the industry, and we couldn’t be more proud.”
Gosselin has been decorating cakes for nearly a decade and has worked at Fareway for six years. She is a graphic designer and professional photographer and has used those skills to teach herself cake decorating. Self-taught by watching YouTube videos and recreating cakes from photos, her talents extend into sculpting, painting and drawing, and are evident in the amazing artistic cakes she creates to the delight of her customers.
