Hanover, Pennsylvania-based Utz Brands Inc. celebrated National Potato Chip Day on March 14 with a new look for its Utz brand potato chips line.
In 2021, U.S. households purchased 1.5 billion pounds of potato chips, as the original flavor still reigns supreme. Barbecue came in as the favorite for the brand’s potato chip flavors, followed by cheddar cheese in second place, sour cream and onion in third place and hot and spicy flavor in fourth.
The new look for its brand potato chips builds on its classic look with a few modern tweaks. Each package will carry the brand’s Family Crafted Flavor badge, which represents, “The pride we have in our family legacy. The love we bake into every Utz snack. And the carefully-crafted flavors your family loves.” The design will still feature the Little Utz Girl, which the company said represents the embodiment of all things honest and good.
“We are very proud and excited to introduce our fresh new look and share more about our Family Crafted Flavor badge, which will be carried on all Utz brand potato chip packages,” said Bill Blubaugh, SVP marketing and communications, Utz Brands Inc. “The badge honors every set of hands that touches our carefully crafted snacks as members of the Utz family – from the farmers harvesting potatoes to hungry snackers and everyone in between.”
The company’s portfolio includes Utz, On The Border Chips and Dips, Golden Flake, Zapp’s, Good Health, Boulder Canyon, Hawaiian Brand and Tortiyahs!.
The company’s products are distributed nationally through grocery, mass merchandisers, club, convenience and drug. Utz operates 17 facilities located in Alabama, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Washington.
