Ontario, California-based Cardenas Markets has promoted Darla Sebastian to the position of VP of special projects.
In this position, Sebastian will drive, facilitate and oversee the implementation of the company’s key strategic endeavors and priority initiatives. She will report directly to Prabash Coswatte, chief operating officer for Cardenas Markets.
“Darla brings extensive project management and retail experience to her new position,” Coswatte said. “She is a strong and highly accomplished leader who has a reputation for transforming strategic vision into reality, and in her new role I am confident she will continue to play a vital role in enhancing current business operations while providing concrete solutions that will guide and bring future endeavors to fruition.”
Sebastian joined Cardenas Markets in 2019, bringing more than 20 years of experience in retail management with a focus on e-commerce, supply chain, finance operations and store systems.
Prior to joining Cardenas Markets, she served as director of IT at Monoprice Inc., an online electronic retailer, where she was accountable for all functions. Sebastian also worked as a senior project manager consultant for Smart Code, where she managed multiple projects from initiation to completion for major clients, including a Southern California supermarket chain. She also served as senior delivery manager and senior project manager for a deep-discount retailer.
Sebastian has bachelor’s degrees in business management and psychology. She has also been certified as a project management professional.
Cardenas Markets operates 52 stores under its banner and seven stores under the Cardenas Ranch Markets banner. It is a large Hispanic grocery chain with stores in California, Nevada and Arizona.
