A new Amazon Fresh grocery store, offering Just Walk Out technology, has opened in La Habra, California. It is the second full-size grocery store in the area offering the technology.
It also is the 10th Amazon Fresh store to open in Southern California. The stores have brought hundreds of jobs with a starting wage of $15.85/hour to the area.
The 40,000-square-foot La Habra Amazon Fresh, located at 1610 West Imperial Highway, also will help support the community by donating surplus items from the store to local food banks.
The Just Walk Out technology adds convenience to customers’ shopping experience by giving them the option to skip the checkout line. Customers who opt for Just Walk Out Shopping can enter the store in three ways: They can scan the In-Store QR code in their Amazon app, use Amazon One to scan their palm or insert a credit or debit card linked to their Amazon account. Each option will open the Just Walk Out gates.
Once inside the store, customers can shop as they normally would. Anything they take off the shelf is automatically added to their virtual cart, and anything put back on the shelf comes out of their virtual cart. At the end of their trip, customers shopping with the Just Walk Out experience scan or insert their entry method again to exit. Alternatively, customers can opt to shop using traditional checkout lanes, staffed by employees, who are also available throughout the store for assistance.
Customers shopping Amazon Fresh will find a wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat and seafood. Plus, its culinary team offers customers a range of prepared foods made fresh in-store every day.
Customers shopping the La Habra location can also take advantage of a coupon for $10 off an order of $20 or more, or $20 off an order of $50 or more found in their weekly Amazon Fresh circular for shopping trips made at the store until Dec. 26. Customers may use the paper coupon at the Just Walk Out exit or at the traditional checkout.
Amazon Fresh has introduced new ways to make grocery shopping more convenient and new Alexa features to help customers manage their shopping lists and better navigate the aisles, as well as Order Ahead for service counters.
The La Habra store will be open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. every day.
It has a wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat and seafood, as well as a range of prepared foods made fresh in-store every day – from fresh-baked bread and made-to-order pizzas, to rotisserie chickens and hot sandwiches like the brisket panini. It offers 365 by Whole Foods Market organics, plus national brands like Coca-Cola and Kraft Mac and Cheese; local brands like Pizza Port Brewing, CoolHaus Ice Cream and Rockenwagner Bakery; regional favorites like Duke’s Mayo and Ellenos Yogurt; and new Amazon exclusive brands like Aplenty and Cursive.
Amazon Fresh accepts cash, SNAP EBT, credit or debit card, or use of the In-Store QR code in the Amazon app. Customers who opt to shop with Just Walk Out technology can shop with Amazon One, a credit or debit card, or by scanning the In-Store QR code in the Amazon app.
