Omaha, Nebraska-based Amber Specialty Pharmacy and Hy-Vee Pharmacy Solutions announce their available services for GlaxoSmithKline’s infused medication sotrovimab. The monoclonal antibody treatment has received the FDA’s emergency use authorization, or EUA, for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults and pediatric patients.
Sotrovimab is authorized to treat patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 88 pounds) with positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 viral testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death. Sotrovimab marks the third monoclonal antibody treatment that Amber Specialty Pharmacy and Hy-Vee Pharmacy Solutions are able to offer patients.
“Amber Specialty Pharmacy and Hy-Vee Pharmacy Solutions continue to be proud of the role we play in supporting COVID-19 healthcare workers and patients throughout the country. We are committed to positively impacting the communities we serve,” said Kristin Williams, president of Amber Specialty Pharmacy and chief health officer at Hy-Vee Inc.
In addition to sotrovimab, the pharmacy has also been administering Regeneron’s REGEN-COV and Lilly’s bamlanivimab + etesevimab, both of which are also FDA-authorized monoclonal antibody therapies.
