Robert Joseph Morton, 56, of Frenstat, Texas, died Aug. 27, 2021. A celebration of life service was held at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas, on Aug. 30.
Born on Aug. 19, 1965, to parents Richard and Dorothy (Brennan) Morton in Detroit, Michigan, he was the youngest of nine children. When he was a young man he moved to Houston, Texas. It was in the Houston area that a young lady named Joan Weichert caught his heart.
Robert and Joan were married Aug. 5, 1989. The couple had two children, Amanda and Shelby.
He was known as a hard-working man and he passed this work ethic to his family. He was an employee with Grocers Supply for 30 years, reaching the title of director of retail sales.
When Mr. Morton had any free time, you could find him fishing in the bay or at his ranch. These were his happy places; he also enjoyed hunting and riding around his property.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rick Morton.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Morton, and two daughters, Amanda Handlon and husband Jonathan, and Shelby Morton and husband JC Campion. He leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren, Emma and Wyatt Handlon. He is also survived by a brother, Bill Morton, and wife Jodi; five sisters – Marsha Bur and husband Russ, Diane Smith and husband Roy Sr., Mary Patino, Leona Saputo and husband Mike, and Cheryl Camileri and husband David; brothers-in-law Clint and Chris Weichert; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
