A recent survey commissioned by Stop & Shop showed that 85 percent of East Coasters prefer seafood on the grill. The survey, which looked at consumers’ seafood preferences, also revealed that fried clams beat out raw, and that when it comes to purchasing seafood, 68 percent take into consideration where their seafood comes from.
Stop & Shop’s survey around seafood preferences revealed the following:
- People cannot seem to get enough seafood, as 95 percent of respondents reported that they generally like the tastes of the sea;
- Sixty-eight percent of survey respondents take into consideration where their seafood comes from before making a purchase;
- Sixty-one percent of respondents prefer to indulge in fried shellfish over having them raw;
- While the lobster roll debate continues, 48 percent of respondents reported liking them hot with butter while nearly 35 percent of respondents prefer them cold with mayo;
- Those who do like lobster meat are fans of the tail, with 58 percent reporting that meat to be their favorite, followed by 30 percent who prefer the claw; and
- New England Clam Chowder takes the cake when it comes to the most popular way to enjoy the soup, with nearly 57 percent of respondents reportedly reaching for it over the Manhattan and Rhode Island-style.
