Kroger partners have presented a total of $75,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The funds for the donations were raised through sales promotions with a percentage donated to local charities. The donation was made at a check presentation ceremony earlier this week.
“Hunger in the United States has grown significantly this year – now affecting one in five Americans as a result of the pandemic,” said Felix Turner, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are pleased our partners have selected the Atlanta Community Food Bank as this year’s recipient. Through these donations, are partners are helping make Kroger’s vision of Zero Hunger | Zero Waste a reality,” Turner said.
The check presentation ceremony included:
- $5,000 – Friendsgiving Turkey Program – Sponsors Kobrand & Scheid Family and National Distributing Company;
- $20,000 – Food Bank Program – Sponsor Constellation Wines and National Distributing Company;
- $10,000 – Food Bank Program – Sponsor The Wine Group and National Distributing Company;
- $10,000 – Food Bank Program – Sponsor Chateau St. Michelle and United; and
- $25,000 – Holiday Donation Program – Kraft and Empire Foods.
Zero Hunger | Zero Waste is Kroger’s social impact plan to end hunger in its communities and eliminate waste across the company by 2025.
Kroger has 30,000 associates who serve customers daily by delivering a seamless shopping experience throughout Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
