Family owned, Louisiana-based grocer Rouses Markets officially opened the doors to its South Lake Charles store on Dec. 1. Opening of the 44,000-square-foot store at the Nelson Road and Ham Reid roundabout was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak and hurricanes Laura and Zeta. Rouses Markets originally planned to open the new location in October.
“We couldn’t wait to open this store,” said Donny Rouse, CEO. “This area, which has been hit so hard, deserves something really special, particularly for the holidays.”
The highly anticipated South Lake Charles store offers the company’s largest selection of fresh food. Whether you want to grab and go, eat right away or want something that’s ready to cook or heat at home, the store has it. Like other Rouses Markets, the new store offers curbside pickup and delivery to save customers time.
This is the company’s third location in Calcasieu Parish since it opened its Sulphur store in September 2018, and Rouse said the area has been very welcoming to his family and team.
“I really want to give a special thanks to all of our vendors and team members, especially the ones in Calcasieu Parish, who were dealing with their own issues from the storm,” Rouse said. “We could not have gotten this store open before the holidays without their help, and we are grateful.”
The new store is located at 5665 Nelson Road in Lake Charles.
In conjunction with opening the new store, Rouses made a $10,000 donation to local Feeding America Food Banks with funds raised from its recent Produce for Kids campaign. See story here.
Rouses Markets is one of the largest independent grocers and fastest growing family-owned companies in the U.S. More than 7,000 employees serve customers across three states: Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
