Fairfax County, Virginia, welcomed the opening of a new Giant Food on Aug. 21. Located at 9400 Fairfax Boulevard, Fairfax Circle, the store is the grocer’s second to open in the area this year.
The company said the 53,000-square-foot location, which created 180 new jobs in the community, was designed to address the way consumers are shopping.
It features expanded prepared food, meat and seafood service counters and a larger natural and organic department and selection. Customers also will find a fresh-cut fruit station and juice bar.
In addition, the store is home to a Starbucks with café seating, beer/wine shop, full-service floral area and PNC bank.
“Giant has had a presence in the Fairfax area since 1954, and we are excited to bring shoppers an additional location to better serve the growing needs of the community,” said Ira Kress, president.
“With these added features and amenities, this store can serve as a one-stop-shop – making it easier and more convenient than ever for our shoppers to enjoy high-quality offerings. From produce to seafood to beverage…every department of this location is designed with the shopper in mind.”
The new store also supports some of the company’s innovative services, including Giant’s Pickup service. Shoppers can place their grocery orders through the new eCommerce experience on GiantFood.com or the Giant mobile app. In-store associates then select, pack and deliver orders to their cars. Customers can also use Giant Delivers to schedule home delivery.
Built to be energy efficient, the store features LED lighting throughout and additional doors and refrigerators in the deli, dairy and produce sections to keep items fresh and cold.
The store also has a team of licensed nutritionists for free online and phone consultations, as well as online nutrition classes and webinars. To sign up for a class or to contact the nutritionists, visit giantfood.com/nutrition.
Headquartered in Landover, Maryland, Giant operates 164 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. Within those stores are 155 full-service pharmacies, 82 PNC Banks and 24 Starbucks locations.
