Sprouts Farmers Market is continuing its growth in Tampa, Florida, with two new locations opening this year and a new site announced for 2021.
Sprouts will open a nearly 30,000-square-foot store in New Tampa, at 8620 Hunters Village Road on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 7 a.m. To celebrate the location, which will be open daily from 7 a.m.-10 p.m., every shopper on opening day will receive a free reusable shopping bag with purchase. Local customers also may enter to win a $500 Sprouts gift card by visiting sprouts.com/newtampa.
The grocer also soon will finish construction on a new, 30,000-square-foot store in Westchase at 10619 Sheldon Road, which will open on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The new location is bringing approximately 110 full- and part-time career opportunities to the area.
Sprouts’ “Healthy Living for Less” approach to grocery shopping means potential team members should share a passion for healthy eating and the fresh, natural and organic products offered throughout the store. Potential team members are encouraged to apply online at sprouts.com/careers. Employment opportunities include department managers and clerks, cashiers, courtesy clerks, receivers and more.
In 2021, Sprouts also will open in the highly anticipated Tampa Heights development. Store hiring and grand opening details will be announced at a later date.
Sprouts first entered the Florida market with a store in Carrollwood in 2017, and currently operates 19 stores in the state.
Sprouts gives back to Tampa communities
The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has awarded local nonprofit Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful with a grant to launch its garden education lesson and cooking demonstration programs in partnership with Tampa Bay Farm 2 School. The grant from Sprouts has allowed the organizations to provide kids’ lessons in how to prepare healthy dishes with locally grown vegetables and teach the community about food sustainability through methods such as hydroponics and composting.
As part of Sprouts’ commitment to “zero waste,” the New Tampa store will donate unsold and edible groceries to Feeding Tampa Bay through the grocer’s Food Rescue program. In 2019, Sprouts stores and distribution centers donated 27 million pounds of product, equivalent to 23 million meals. Food that is not fit for donation is provided to local cattle farms and composting facilities. Sprouts’ evolving “zero waste” initiatives help minimize food waste while reducing the impact of hunger and the company’s environmental footprint.
Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Sprouts employs more than 35,000 team members and operates more than 350 stores in 23 states from coast to coast.
