Oskar Blues Brewery launched its BA20 Series of limited release barrel-aged beers in April with the first of four entries—All Monde—in four-packs of 12 oz.-cans.
The company said the nationwide release follows years of experimentation with small-batch barrel-aged beers and the distribution of Bourbon Barrel Aged Ten FIDY Imperial Stout.
To make All Monde, the brewery said it used a new tool, the Spinbot 5000. Brewers first filled the Spinbot with toasted almonds and Madagascar vanilla beans. An imperial stout racked in bourbon barrels for nine months was then swirled through until the nutty and sweet flavors were maximized.
For the series, Oskar Blues also is diverging from its classic can designs, calling instead on “trippy” illustrations in earthy tones, accented by gold lids. Melty figures “groove together” around a jumble of vanilla flowers and almonds.
Future entries in the BA20 Series will be announced later this year, the company said.
