Key Food Stores Co-Operative Inc., a chain of primarily independently owned and corporate grocery stores, held a grand opening of its newest Liberty Market location at 261 North Main Street, Liberty, New York, on March 6.

Local officials and Key Food executives including CEO Dean Janeway, COO George Knobloch, CFO Sharon Konzelman, CIO Tammy Teague and VP of Business Development John Durante were in attendance.

“We did full interior and exterior renovations in record time in order to ensure the community didn’t go without a place to buy groceries within walking distance in the Village of Liberty,” said Managing Owner Randy Resnick. “That’s what we do, we improve communities by investing in dilapidated businesses and creating new jobs and therefore new economic development.”

Liberty Market will continue to provide  exotic and ethnic products as well as provide new vegan and gluten free products.

“I’ve managed many grocery stores throughout my career, and this is one of the best renovations I’ve ever seen.” said Liberty Market Manager Herb Gayles.

Key Food Stores Co-Operative Inc. was founded in Brooklyn in 1937. It includes 280 primarily member-owned and corporate grocery stores with $2.7 billion in annual sales. In addition to Key Food, these stores operate under various other banners including: Food Universe, The Food Emporium, SuperFresh, Food Dynasty, and Gala Foods Supermarkets in all five boroughs, Long Island, upstate New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
