As of Jan. 16, hiring and training were underway for full-time positions at Wegmans Food Markets’ new West Cary, North Carolina, store. Located on Davis Drive and Airport Boulevard in Wake County, the store is expected to open this summer. Wegmans plans to employ approximately 450 people at the West Cary store, 180 of which will be full-time positions.
Available full-time positions include everything from customer service and hourly entry-level management positions, to culinary roles such as chefs and line cooks. Hiring for part-time positions will begin in late February.
“Our company is known for being one of the best places to work because we offer opportunities for advancement, flexible scheduling and competitive pay and benefits packages,” said West Cary Store Manager Katie Duchnowski. Starting out as a part-time cashier, Duchnowski has spent the last 19 years working in a variety of positions that have set her up to succeed in her current role. “At Wegmans, we work as a family to accomplish our goals.”
The 103,000-s.f. West Cary location will have the company’s signature European open-air market look and feel, offering a selection of food options and restaurant-style meals. The store also includes The Burger Bar, a family-friendly, casual restaurant counter that serves delicious burgers, flavorful sandwiches, sides, and beer and wine by the glass.
“We are committed to hiring applicants who have a passion for food and are eager to make a difference for our customers and the community,” said Duchnowski. “The ideal candidate is someone who shares our core values of respect, caring and high standards. If you match these criteria, the skill set to do any position in the store can be taught.”
