Plans are currently underway to build a new Stater Bros. Markets store at the southeast corner of Whittier Boulevard and Sorensen Avenue in the community of Whittier, California. The new site, which will be built from the ground up, will join the commercial sector of The Groves in Whittier, developed by Frontier Real Estate Investments.
The new location replaces a former Stater Bros. store previously located at 11750 Whittier Boulevard.
The company expects to break ground on the Whittier site in the summer of 2020 and anticipates a grand opening in the spring of 2021.
Once constructed, the full-service supermarket will stand at 44,378 s.f. The store will feature full-service meat, seafood, service deli and bakery departments; an extensive selection of fresh, organic and healthy offerings including in-store cut fruit; handcrafted sushi made in-house daily; customer-friendly aisles; many energy-saving and environmentally friendly practices; and a décor scheme reflective of the local community.
“Local residents will be pleased with the wide-variety of services and new product offerings we’re bringing to their community,” said Stater Bros. CEO Pete Van Helden. “This new supermarket demonstrates Stater Bros.’ commitment to continued growth and is a testament to our legacy of providing our loyal customers with the best shopping experience.”
Stater Bros. also has announced it will soon open stores to serve the communities of Ladera Ranch, Ontario Ranch and Calimesa.
Stater Bros. was founded in 1936 in Yucaipa, California, and has grown steadily through the years to become the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in both San Bernardino County and Riverside County. The company currently operates 170 supermarkets.
