Giant Food Stores will celebrate the grand opening of its new Broomall store in Marple Township, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Dec. 6, at 8 a.m. The new 74,000-s.f. store replaces the current Springfield Road location and will operate from 6 a.m. unitl midnight seven days a week and will have 200 full- and part-time employees, adding 50 new positions.
Scott Grygo, a 24-year grocery veteran, has been appointed store manager.
“We’ve proudly served the Broomall community for over 17 years, and we are excited to do so in a bigger and better way once we open our new store next month,” said Grygo. “With the busy holiday season underway, we want to make shopping at Giant as easy and enjoyable for our customers as possible, so they can spend more time with family and friends. Our entire team is working hard to get ready for opening day and make this a special moment for the Broomall community and our loyal customers.”
The new store will offer an expanded farm fresh produce department with more than 350 fresh produce items, including a variety of organic and local items. The produce department will also have in-store cut fruit, fresh squeezed juice, a smoothie bar, kombucha taps and an expanded salad bar. In addition, the new store will feature a full-service deli with a selection of grab-and-go meals, made to order sandwiches and salads and an expanded hot food offering that includes a barbecue station featuring meats that are smoked in-store daily. The deli will also feature an in-store charcuterie station, local fresh and frozen pasta and artisan cheeses, as well as a mozzarella station featuring cannoli and other fresh products from Spring Grove, Pennsylvania-based Caputo Brothers Creamery.
Hate the new Giant. So cold and unwelcoming.
