Miami-based Sedano’s Supermarkets opened its 35th store in Florida and its 10th location in Hialeah, the city where the storied retailer was founded in 1962, on Nov. 6.
With nearly 100 new employees, the 35,000-s.f. store located at 1170 West 49th Street introduces Sedano’s new look and a more spacious layout inclusive of an expansive Hot Food Station and Sandwich Bar with ample seating, the grocer says.
To commemorate the grand opening community and civic leaders including City of Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez joined Sedano’s CEO Agustín Herrán, COO José Herrán Jr. and CMO Javier Herrán in the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony. The first 200 customers received a complimentary reusable branded grocery bag with a Sedano’s gift card ranging between $5-$200.
“We are very excited to open our 35th store, and especially in Hialeah, the city where it all began,” said Javier Herrán. “Our refreshed look and new services are all designed to ease our customers’ shopping experience, and we welcome the residents of Hialeah to their beautiful, brand new Sedano’s.”
The grand opening festivities continue through November, including promotional offers and in-store events such as a daily Cafecito Power Hour; live cooking demonstrations with Sedano’s brand partner Goya Foods; and sampling opportunities showcasing Sedano’s pastries, sandwiches and other specialty hot food items.
Founded in 1962 by the Herrán and Guerra families, Sedano’s Supermarkets has grown to become one of the leading independent grocery chains in the U.S. Sedano’s serves Florida’s growing multicultural communities, with more than 3,000 employees and 35 stores in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Orange and Osceola counties.
