Associated Grocers Inc. (AG) held its Fall Food Show for member retailers at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana, on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The event, themed “Follow Our Lead”, drew more than 900 vendors, manufacturers, retail members and store representatives. AG hosted the event, which featured new items, merchandising ideas and current services available to its retailers.
For Associated Grocers, this event was an opportunity for the company to impact the community with a bulk food, product and floral donation. AG donated 28,724 pounds of food, which is equivalent to 23,936 meals to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
“Associated Grocers has been a great partner to help address hunger in our 11-parish service area for many years,” said Mike Manning, president and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. “The size of this latest food show donation will be a tremendous help as we prepare for the holiday season.”
In addition, all of the floral was packed up and delivered by the AG team to 12 nursing homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals in Gonzales, Baton Rouge and Denham Springs. This single event pulls together food and products to directly benefit families in the community.
Associated Grocers, in partnership with the Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Association (GMRA), also held its 2019 golf tournament. The event took place on Oct. 9 at Carter Plantation in Springfield, Louisiana. More than 120 golfers participated in the tournament, which provides scholarships to students working at AG member stores.
Associated Grocers Inc. is a wholesale distributor to more than 180 independent retailers spanning throughout the Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas region. AG provides retail operations support and solutions to its members.
