As Hurricane Dorian impacts the East Coast, Food Lion is now accepting financial donations at each of its more than 1,000 locations to benefit the American Red Cross, its national disaster relief partner.
Customers can donate any amount they choose or round up their purchase to the nearest dollar at the register. Food Lion will donate 100 percent of all funds raised through Sept. 20 to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief to help people affected by disasters like storms and countless other crises big and small.
“Our associates and customers in the towns and cities impacted by Hurricane Dorian know they can count on Food Lion to be there before, during and after the storm, and we’ve heard from many of our customers across our operating area that they want to join with us to support our neighbors and communities in areas impacted by the storm,” says Meg Ham, president of Food Lion. “Together, our gift will enable the American Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover not only just from this storm, but from more than 62,000 disasters both big and small our neighbors experience throughout the year.”
Food Lion, based in Salisbury, North Carolina since 1957, has more than 1,000 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states and employs more than 63,000 associates. It is a company of Ahold Delhaize USA, the U.S. division of Zaandam-based Royal Ahold Delhaize Group.
