Market Basket had a soft opening for its new Mauriceville store, located at the corner of Highway 62 and Highway 1, on Wednesday, July 31. The grand opening festivities will start on Aug. 7.
This new state-of-the-art store has more than 32,000 s.f. of space with new departments including a MB Smokehouse featuring Certified Cajun boudin and in-store made smoked sausage. The meat department features a full-service meat counter, with meats prepared and cut fresh daily. A floral department has fresh-cut flowers and arrangements. The bakery and deli makes breads, cookies, pastries, pies and cakes fresh every day. Hot, homemade meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in the dining area.
Skylar Thompson, president of Market Basket Foods, said, “After Hurricane Harvey, we did some quick renovations in order to reopen and provide for the needs of our customers while we were making plans and designing this new store. As Mauriceville has grown and flourished, so have the needs for a larger and more diverse grocery store, and Market Basket has always provided what our customers needed and wanted, and that is what they will see in this new store.”
Thompson said “the only thing that remains unchanged is our commitment to our customers and the communities we serve.”
In business for 58 years
In 1961, Bruce Thompson opened the first Market Basket grocery store in Groves, Texas. Today, Market Basket remains a privately-owned grocer serving the East Texas and Louisiana region with 31 full-service supermarkets. According to the company, its stores “offer outstanding value on grocery foods including fresh produce, quality meats, delicious bakery goods and beautiful floral arrangements.” Pharmacy services are offered in some locations. Market Basket employs more than 2,000 associates.
