Bono, a producer of extra virgin olive oil in Sicily with U.S. operations in Fairfield, New Jersey, is expanding nationally within more than 440 Whole Foods Markets and in more than 200 Sprouts Farmers Markets.
Whole Foods will offer the following olive oils in 16.9-oz. bottles at $14.99 each:
- PDO Organic Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil: 100 percent Val di Mazara Sicilian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- PGI Organic Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil: 100 percent Sicilian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Sprouts Farmers Markets will offer the following olive oils in 8.45-oz. bottles with control tops:
- PGI Certified Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- PDO Certified Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- PDO & Organic Certified Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The suggested retail price is $8.99 per bottle for the PDO and Organic Certified Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil and $7.99 per bottle for both the PGI Certified Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil and PDO Certified Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Bono products boast the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) or PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) certifications, which guarantee authenticity from the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forest Policies. Utilizing these European Union standards of quality, consumers can identify PDO and PGI-certified products both as authentic and locally sourced where indicated. Both are USDA certified organic.
