Steve’s Ice Cream Introduces 7 New Flavors, New Packaging

Steve's Ice Cream

Last updated on June 13th, 2024

Steve’s Ice Cream is unveiling seven new flavor creations along with new, artist-designed packaging.

Steve’s Ice Cream, a Dean Foods Co. brand acquired in 2017, is introducing the new flavors with a new campaign. From its inception as an ice cream shop in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1973, Steve’s is acknowledged as the founder of the craft ice cream movement in the U.S.

From flavors like Brooklyn Blackout Cake and Small Batch Bourbon Vanilla, Steve’s is introducing seven new flavors this year including Sicilian Chocolate Cannoli and dairy-free Moroccan Mash Up.

Steve’s enlisted the talents of Seattle-based artist Drew Wicklund to update the brand’s packaging. The hand-drawn designs highlight the inspiration for each flavor by creating unique identifying icons that define each variety.

“While my beginnings at a young age were as an artist, as I entered my professional career, I ended up in the design world. This collaboration with Steve’s allowed me to marry both of my passions into thoughtful creations,” said Wicklund. “My goal for this packaging was not only to catch the consumer’s attention, but ensure each creation was informed by the exciting palettes and globally-inspired flavors that live inside every pint.”

“We are excited to engage with art and artists from packaging and content creation, to experiential activations this summer,” said Mark Schneider, marketing director-ice cream for Dean Foods. “Creativity and experimentation have always been central to the Steve’s DNA and this refresh celebrates its long-standing heritage.”

The new ice cream flavors, made with grass-grazed milk, include Spearmint Chocolate Brownie, Sicilian Chocolate Cannoli and Cold-Brewed Cinnamon Coffee; and dairy-free flavors, made with organic coconut cream, include Moroccan Mash Up, Passion Carnivale, Cold-Brewed Cinnamon Coffee, and Chocolate Cherry Blossom.

Steve’s Ice Cream is available in both dairy and dairy-free flavors at select grocery retailers nationwide, including multiple Albertsons/Safeway divisions, Target, Harris-Teeter, Hannaford, and Wegmans, located in the freezer department.
