This week Ingles Markets will present a check to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of Greenville from donations collected through its annual shamrock campaign in March.
On Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m., Ingles Markets will present the check at its Hendersonville, North Carolina, store on Spartanburg Highway. It is part of Ingles Markets’ commitment to helping families fight muscle-debilitating diseases. With the support of Ingles customers who donated at checkout, the 2019 Shamrock program raised $32,095 to help children and adults who are afflicted with muscular dystrophy and help researchers find a cure.
From March 13-27, Ingles grocery stores participated in the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day fundraising program in which customers and associates purchased MDA Shamrocks at check-out for $1. Donors signed their shamrocks and proudly displayed them at their local store.
Funds raised make MDA Summer Camp possible for more than 60 children in the Greenville region. They can experience the best week of the year at no cost to their families at Camp Pleasant Ridge. MDA camp teaches children to live independently while offering a full range of activities that are accessible for children of all abilities.
“Ingles is proud to work with our customers to contribute to the Shamrock Program, it is an honor to be able to send these children to a wonderful camp provided by the MDA of Greenville,” said Melissa Leavell, director of advertising for Asheville, North Carolina-based Ingles Markets.
Ingles associates and members of the MDA will be attending the donation check presentation chain’s store located at 625 Spartanburg Highway in Hendersonville.
