The grand opening of the Foodtown of Morningside Heights was held on March 29, at the store located at 1316 Amsterdam Avenue, Manhattan. The store is owned and operated by Gabriel Estevez.

The newly renovated supermarket offers an enhanced selection of fresh produce and quality meats; expanded deli and bakery departments; and local favorite items to meet the community’s needs. In addition to the private-label merchandise, the store will feature the Green Way private-label line, which offers natural/organic quality alternatives at prices lower than the national brands.

“It is exciting for us to celebrate the grand opening of another Foodtown in New York. We are proud to work with Gabriel Estevez as we service the Morningside Heights community with a Foodtown supermarket,” said John Derderian, president and COO of Allegiance Retail Services.

David Maniaci, chairman and CEO of Allegiance, stated, “I would like to congratulate Gabriel Estevez on the opening of the Morningside Heights Foodtown, and we look forward to the success of the store.”

The store will be open every day to serve the community with quality goods at affordable prices, coupled with a personal level of customer service.

For 63 years, the Foodtown banner has served the communities of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and has grown to a cooperative of 66 independently owned grocery stores.

Allegiance Retail Services supports independent supermarkets such as Freshtown, Freshco, D’Agostino, Gristedes, Pathmark, LaBella Marketplace, Brooklyn Harvest, Market Fresh, Big Deal Food Market, Kissena Glatt Farms, Aron’s, Shop n Bag and Mega Meat Market, providing them with marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support, as well as a full line of Foodtown private-label products.
